A friend sent me a link last week to a video she described as a “must see.” I’m not much for forwarded emails, but since I missed the Susan Boyle thing until it was already hot, I finally took a minute to check it out.Yup, it’s a must see!The video is the song “Stand By Me,” performed by 35 musicians from around the world – who have never met each other. It’s the project of the group Playing for Change. Filmmaker Mark Johnson explains that four years ago he heard street musician Roger Ridley performing the song “Stand By Me” on a pier in Santa Monica, CA. The idea grew to travel the world and record other musicians performing the same song, and then put it all together with the goal “inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music.”You can learn more about Playing For Change, and see other episodes of their musical journey, on the organization’s website.Check out my Dogvotional Gallery at Beliefnet, 10 Lessons I Learned From My Dog.
