Maecharity.jpgWith the help of the band’s international community, rockers Mae have embarked on a year-long journey to help those less fortunate and also raise awareness about important humanitarian issues.
Every month in 2009, the band will release a new song exclusively on their website. Fans can download the song for a minimum donation of $1, and the profits from the digital downloads will fund humanitarian projects that the band and their fans will be a part of all year long.

The current song is “The House That Fire Built,” and the charity was Habitat For Humanity International. The band’s goal is to raise $65,000 in donations to fully fund the construction of a home for Rhonda Floyd and her three children in Newport News, VA. Throughout the course of the project, Mae will document the progress as a home for Rhonda and her family is built.
Remember, the minimum donation is $1, but you can give more (hint, hint.) The tally so far is almost $3,500, and the band says they’ll focus on that charity until the whole $65,000 is raised. Let’s see if we can help them reach their goal by the end of the month.
For more information, visit Mae’s website. You can hear the song for free, and then make a donation and download it.
