33 Miles’ lead singer Jason Barton and his wife Jennifer were featured in Redbook’s June issue, in an article called “The State of Our Unions.” In the story, nine couples talked about the basic principles and challenges of their marriages.
The Bartons talk about their covenant marriage, which, according to the article, means “by law they can get a divorce only after receiving counseling and only under very limited conditions, such as adultery or abuse.”

What a great opportunity for the Bartons to have a Christian marriage testimony in a mainstream magazine – especially since some of the couples aren’t quite as committed to monogamous marriage. One of the couples featured, for example, are polyamorists. That means “by mutual agreement, they’re both free to have sexual and romantic relationships outside their marriage.”
(Ri-i-i-i-ght. Like I really believe that makes a marriage stronger. But I digress.)
33 Miles debuted last year with their self-titled release, and jumped right into the music fray with three radio hits, ending 2007 with one of the highest selling albums of the year. The band is currently working on their sophomore release.
