Six Attitudes of Divine Science, VI

The word “creed,” or credere seems derived from cor dare — to give one’ s heart. The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health offers, not a list a beliefs but a list of 6 tenets that can help to carefully cultivate an attitude of commitment. The 6th tenet is:

“And we solemnly promise to be spiritually aware, to pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus, to do to others as we would have them do to us, and to be merciful, just, and pure.”

My comments:

    • We can recognize divine Mind, just as Christ Jesus did.
    • To determine how I want to treat others, I can ask myself, How would I like to be treated?

It takes more than prayer alone to “do” to others.

On the offense team
The cliché, “The best defense is a good offense,” makes sense even to non-sports people like me. It can be applied to ball games, military combat, and I believe, it can be applied to religion. Too much defense and there is a lack of vision ...

Finding the sacred
Some things in life, we treat as sacred: relationships, spirit, the earth, our work. We are bewildered when other people treat them irreverently. Deep down we know the truth of the matter, that we must treat our earth with respect, otherwise ...
