Sunday Inspiration #23

posted by Alex Blackwell

Today’s Sunday Inspiration: It’s not practical to think that every day will be a good day. Loved ones get sick, unexpected bills arrive and kitchen sinks leak, but no matter how dark the day may seem, there’s always something good in each day if you take the time to look.

The Benefits of Trying New Things

posted by Alex Blackwell

“Pearls don’t lie on the seashore. If you want one, you must dive for it.” – Chinese proverb

If you keep doing things the same way you always have, you will easily fall into a rut. To feed your creativity, you have to step out and try new things. Satisfy your thirst for something different and reap the rewards. Such as:

Increased confidence – Going out on a limb to try something new takes confidence. Showing yourself that you have what it takes will only make you feel better about yourself. You will surprise yourself and realize the potential you’ve held all along.

How to Make the Impossible Possible

posted by Alex Blackwell

”We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible. – Vince Lombardi

Have a dream that seems unreachable? Don’t ground yourself because you think you don’t have the wings to fly. Try these ideas for making the impossible possible:

Form a clear vision of what you want to accomplish – This is the most basic thing you can do, but it will be the foundation for every step you take hereafter. Ask yourself what do you specifically want to accomplish and why. Write it down for future reference.

Do your research – You have to know what you’re getting into before you take the plunge. Devote some time to read books, go online, and talk to people who have been there. Be prepared though; you likely won’t be fully informed in just one day. And the more fully informed you are, the better prepared you will be for success.

Build a plan
– It’s important to lay out what you’re going to do and how you’re going to do it. If you attack your goal without building a plan, you will likely miss something. Laying everything out at once will give you a clear view of what needs to take place over the course of your goal. It also helps break down your plan into easy-to-tackle steps.

Include a timeline – Make sure you know how long you’re going to be in this for so that there are no surprises. Opening a business will take awhile, you figure, but you haven’t looked into how long it will take to get the proper licensing and permits, or how long the loan process is. Without factoring the timing in of individual steps, you may misjudge the total amount of time and that will end up really discouraging you.

Expect distractions and setbacks
– It’s part of the process. You can’t go from point A to point Z without any type of interruptions or snafus. Don’t be discouraged; just know that this will happen. That’s also why it’s important to keep your plan written down and easily accessible. It would also benefit you to write down the reasons you are going after this dream and what specifically makes you come alive about it. You’ll need these things as reminders and motivators.

Celebrate milestones
Celebrating your success is important. Don’t wait until the end to celebrate either. Reward yourself along the way so the journey isn’t so long. Your accomplishments deserve recognition at any stage.
