Same-Day Good Mood Boosts

You know the days; the days when you feel grumpy, unmotivated or overwhelmed. Put simply, you know the days when you’re in a bad mood.

Bad moods can just happen or they can develop because of a lack of sleep or an insensitive comment made from someone you know or trust. No matter the cause of the bad mood, you feel something you don’t want to feel and you’re not sure how to change it.

But bad moods can have a short shelf life. In fact, it’s possible to turn your bad mood into a good mood on the same day. Try these same-day positive mood boosts so you can start feeling good again – beginning today:

Go for a change of scenery. A new environment or surrounding yourself with different things, different sensations will help shake off that bad mood. There’s a good reason why you instantly feel that “lift” when you go for a walk. So go ahead, commune with nature when you sense that bad mood feeling.

Press ‘Play.’ Listening to classical or calming music for 10 minutes can also help mellow you down. You may even want to couple this with breathing exercises to further soothe your ruffled feathers.

Stay focused. Keep focused. Stay on your path. When you feel your positive attitude slipping away, hold yourself accountable for getting it back on track.

Let the sun shine in! Open the blinds and let the sun fill the room and your spirit with joy.

Clean up your desk area, a kitchen counter or that end table that collects everything. Removing clutter and making your personal space neat and inviting is a quick way to regain control of your feelings.

Smile! Even though you’re in a bad mood, smiling is an effective way of shifting your mood back. A simple smile is known to give you positive vibes instantly and radiates to those around you.

Try some yoga. Lack of sleep, stress, or an underlying medical condition can all summon the sleeping Mr. Hyde in you. Good thing there’s yoga which has been proven to improve sleeping patterns, relieve stress and even boost your immune system.
