I am delighted that our First Lady, Michele Obama is not only speaking out, but taking action to help adults and kids eat more vegetables and fruits, less desserts, and to be active on a daily basis.  Yes!

As an obese kid myself, I know the dangers and the heartache of being fat.  I’ve been on a mission to help people lose weight and get healthy again by simply avoiding fats and sugars, and by being active.  You know it — that’s the “Give-Back Diet” plan we’re doing together.  It’s also at the root of my “Joy of Weight Loss” book and videos.

Here’s the White House Press Release
where Mrs. Obama announced partnerships in public and private organizations.  “The physical and emotional health of an entire generation and the
economic health and security of our nation is at stake,” said Mrs.
Obama.  “This isn’t the kind of problem that can be solved overnight,
but with everyone working together, it can be solved.  So, let’s move.”

This is an all-encompassing program starting with parents, nutrition education, schools, kids, celebrities, gardening (remember her White House kitchen garden last spring?), media campaigns, a revamp of the USDA Food Guide Pyramid, school nutrition programs, and establishment of “LetsMove.gov — to provide helpful tips, step-by-step strategies for
parents, and regular updates on how the federal government is working
with partners to reach the national goal” as stated on her press release.

I applaud our First Lady’s initiative.  We’re right in there with you, Michele.

Questions:  were YOU an overweight or obese child?  What do you think of this major new campaign?  How can YOU do something to “Give-Back” to obese kids?  PLEASE POST YOUR THOUGHTS.
