I can’t believe it, Gourmet Magazine is no more!  Conde Nast announced the other day that it is canceling the magazine, due to poor ad sales.

It’s sad, I think, as I’m a big believer in cooking and enjoying food in general, and especially those with high flavor content.  I’m into quality, not quantity.  Honestly, I haven’t read Gourmet in many years, though.

Gourmet seemed to be more about traveling, and eating in very expensive restaurants, than about actual cooking.  Most of us cannot afford to fine dine in the places that Gourmet featured.  Several years ago I began subscribing to Fine Cooking, instead of Gourmet, or Food and Wine magazines.  I believe in gourmet eating, but not gourmet expense.
