Unsure if you need to lose weight? Don’t pay attention to most of those
insurance company charts – they’re designed to make the premiums
higher. Don’t compare yourself to fashion magazines or TV shows –
they’re the smallest percentage of people – movie stars and models who
are constantly starving and exercising obsessively.

Pay attention to how you realistically want to look, how healthy you
feel, what your doctor says, and how your clothes fit. Look in the

mirror while you’re getting out of the shower. If you’re overweight,
you’ll see it. Do you see bulges in the mirror? Is your torso apple
or pear-shaped? Is your butt too big or your chin doubled? Be honest –
this is only between you and God.

Do not panic if you don’t like what you see. Take it slow. Just start
by eating one less dessert, or drinking one less soda a day, and going
for a ten-minute walk.
