If you always need or want something more than what you have, or worry or obsess about food and dieting–consider giving to others, and less about yourself.  Take the monetary and financial aspects out of the picture.

Here are some ideas for “getting outside of yourself.”

— Give someone an hour of your time.
— Help a friend sort out the boxes in their garage or attic.
— Read to a child.
— Call someone who is in pain or not feeling well, and tell them you care.
— Offer a back or shoulder rub to your spouse, partner, or friend.
— Take time to listen to someone’s worries.
— Pick a nearby nursing home and go visit an elderly stranger.
— Offer to do someone’s laundry, or clean their house, or run an errand.
— Have a friend over for dinner.
— Baby-sit for new parents.
— Walk a neighbor’s dog.
— Give a lengthy foot massage at the end of a hard day.
— Invite a few friends over for tea and a silent meditation.

What I’m talking about here is decentralizing food in your life.  Put relationships and non-monetary aspects first.
