Tax Day in the U.S.  A tough time, facing up and paying up for the past year.

I wrote about money and debt, and “Being on the Verge”  here’s that post, click here.

Here’s what Deborah Price of Beliefnet, says about what to do.  She starts with gratitude and appreciation for what our tax dollars give us in return.  Click here.

Others are protesting taxes and American government bailouts, and excess government spending, attempting to resurrect the original Boston Tea Party.  Here’s an editorial by New York Times columnist Paul Krugman on the subject.

As for me, I think that taxes are always a drag, but it’s my civic responsibility to share in the cost of running a country.  Our taxes in America are less than many places, I tell myself.  The other reality is the more income we have, the more taxes we pay (not that I have so much income!).

The lesson I learn every year from tax day is that it’s important to get the taxes paid, or there will be lots of trouble.  One must always save enough to pay the taxes, when income comes in — either through an automatic payroll deduction, or yourself from other non-wage income.  Save, save, save!

This lesson is true for life, too.  Prepare for the future.  As for weight loss and maintenance, the analogy is that we shouldn’t eat everything at once, save more for later.
