Here’s my tip for your day today, to help you lose that weight. If you have cereal for breakfast, have only 1 cup.  You could also add some fresh fruit, and a half a cup of no-fat milk, too, if you like.

Yes, I do include carbohydrates in my Joy of Weight Loss Food Plan.  Cereal is one of them; I think having some whole grains can be a good start to your day.  Carbohydrates are a source of quick energy, they can help scrub out your digestive system, some, such as oats, may help lower your cholesterol.  Be careful, though, carbohydrates in general change to sugar in the body, and they often contain a fairly large amount of calories, so you need to limit them in your daily structured eating.

Take a look at this video – I’ll show you what I have for breakfast, and some ideas for combining different cereals and grains, along with some fresh fruit.

You just don’t need a huge amount of food for breakfast!  Remember three truths: (1) your stomach’s natural size is only about the size of your fist.  Any more amount of food than one fist-size means your stomach has to stretch and expand in order to accommodate it.  Give it a break!  Let your body have only what it needs.  (2) Your next meal is not far off, as I recommend, only 2-3 hours away.  There’s no need to have a giant breakfast; it’s not your last meal, it’s your first of several during the day. (3) Eating too much will probably make you tired, with most of your energy going to digestion.  Why not let your body have just the right amount of fuel for your brain, and just enough to get you moving to the office or workplace.
