The venerable church in lower Manhattan — where America’s first cardinal received his red hat — today becomes the Archdiocese of New York’s very first basilica. (Incredibly, the fabled St. Pat’s on Fifth Avenue isn’t one.). Congratulations to our neighbors across the river!
