Brooklyn’s first Permanent Deacon dies

The following e-mail landed in my in-box late this afternoon:

Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio regrets to inform you of the death of Deacon Charles A. Postler.

Deacon Postler died on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Calvary Hospital.

He was the first Permanent Deacon ordained for the Diocese of Brooklyn on June 9, 1973 and served at the Parish of St. Patrick, in Brooklyn.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him…
