Worth a thousand words: the mother of a saint

The 100-year-old mother of Father Jerzy Popieliszko, Marianna, center, prays at her son’s grave in front of the St. Stanislaw Kostka church in Warsaw, Poland, Saturday, June 5, 2010, ahead of the Sunday beatification of Jerzy Popieluszko.

What bragging rights. Can you hear Mrs. Popielusxko. “What, your sons a doctor you say? a Deacon, maybe? Mine – he’s a Saint. Pass the cream and sugar cubes already.”

How absolutely riveting…moving…the mother of a Blessed!
And this man was just not killed; he was tortured and treated with unmerciful cruelty; the record shows this. And for standing up for the Truth, Jesus Christ, that makes us free!
The martyrs throughout time, from the earliest records in the Acts of the Apostles, give clear evidence that living “in Christo” will demand one’s very life, one’s very blood, in certain circumstances. May Bl. Jersy P. pray for us all that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ!
