Looking “Up”: Scenes from a marriage in just four minutes

I was heartened to see that the wonderful Disney/Pixar film “Up” nabbed an Oscar nomination for Best Picture — and deservedly so.

Trolling around on YouTube I found this lovely scene from the film, which distills the heart and soul of a long marriage down to just four poignant, bittersweet, silent minutes. Hopes and disappointments, dreams and frustrations, life and death — it’s all here. And it never fails to move me to tears. Significantly, the sequence begins and ends in church.

Take a few moments and watch.
 And keep a tissue nearby.

Although a bit predicable, it was a great movie. One for the entire family to watch.

Funny how the couple was saving their money to someday live their dream when they were already living their dream as a happy couple.
‘Paradise’ is what you make of it and doesn’t have to be on the other side of the world.

Big day in the Big Easy: 10 new deacons
Deacon Mike Talbot has the scoop: 10 men today were ordained as Permanent Deacons for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. This group of men was formally selected on the day the evacuation of New Orleans began as Hurricane Katrina approached. The immediate aftermath of the storm for this class would be

"Gesu Bambino," anyone? This is one of my favorites, and nobody does it better than these gals: Kathleen Battle and Frederica von Staade. Enjoy.
