Are you A Witness to Grace?

It is often said that we are only able to see what we anticipate or expect to see.

This is the cover of my personal December journal.  I intend to be open to see the small and large Graces that present themselves.  I am willing to see them – therefore I know I will be more inclined to notice them.

The phrase A Witness to Grace carries another implication.  To give a witness is to affirm or testify to the veracity of a thing.  That is a real.  That is is present.  For the month of December I want to do just that: affirm the presence of grace.  Small. Large. Any kind at all.  So visit often – I’ll be whispering my witness to Grace.

Are you a witness to grace?

We Often See What We Expect…

to see.  This morning I promised myself to live the entire day from my heart.  To quote writer Kathleen Gallagher Everett, “BE KIND – NO EXCEPTIONS” was the motto for this Monday.

Live the entire day from my heart.

So, as I pulled into my studio parking lot, I was surprised to NOTICE that the pothole that had been filled in weeks ago was filled in the shape of…a heart.  Once we allow our vision to be open…we suddenly SEE what has always been in front of us, yet unseen.

What will you allow yourself to see today?

Thankful for the Memories…

At a time when memories are made by gathering around a bountiful table…there are some chairs which will be empty this year.  One such chair was left empty by a large soul:  Hugh Prather.  This holiday I will come to the table, already FULL~ of thanks for his life and that we got to share his joy for so very long.

Timeless Brilliance

for many nights i told myself the night sky was
especially bright because of the coming cold.

now i know it is because he who was beloved
by many has walked on -

       the stars shine
     more brilliantly
    as he takes his place
among them.

For the bounty of gracious and kind memories – we are grateful for our friends who
are here in memory.

BELIEVE! in the goodness of others…

And I am convinced you will immediately begin to see plenty of it.
All I did was mention that THIS box that I was posting to an APO AE address
was going to an enlisted military person.  My husband and I act as soldier angels and send care packages and letters, alternately, each week.

It began a domino effect in line at the post office.  Now, days later, the entire post office crew and a few folks from the postal line are contributing to an awesome holiday treat box going to the entire platoon on the son of one of the post office employees.  Every one is so excited to find a way, a path, for their generosity.  I BELIEVE and am assured of the certainty of that belief each day – with artful and unexpected graces.

Listen To Music In Between Times
There are times that are neither THERE, yet, Or HERE,  quite.  They are the in between things that feel a little unsettling. Without prayer, there are hymns. Minus promise, there is melody. Without enthusiasm, the march moves feet forward. In loss, tunes gentle the tears. No teachers, yet mu
