A Kid Reacts to the Big “Empire Strikes Back” Reveal

posted by Jason Boyett

One of the biggest moments in any child’s life occurs toward the end of Empire Strikes Back, when the viewer finds out that Darth Vader is Luke’s father. Noooooooo! It’s the biggest of big reveals. One dad thoughtfully captured this moment on video while his 4 year-old son was watching the movie for the first time.

It’s priceless.

The son is deeply scandalized with the notion a father could be so evil, but the daughter half-way anticipated as much, and sits there with an “I knew it…Mom was right” summation.

That is awesome. It is nice to see someone discover that for the first time. I feel like I was born with the knowledge the Vader was Luke’s father. That is the one piece of knowledge I wish I could forget just so I could learn it again!

The Crazy Physics of Starling Flight
Sorry for the paucity of posts this week and last. I've been knee-deep in my next book and am facing a self-imposed deadline. In the meantime, check out this video of a flock of starlings. The physics of bird behavior in flocks is absolutely fascinating, and I can't begin to explain or comprehend

Halloween
The great thing about the persistently growing zombie fad is that anyone -- at any point during their day, regardless of their activity -- can be turned into a zombie and therefore find themselves stuck in that outfit for the rest of their undead lives. Thus, our costumes for 2011: Zombie Businessma
