What are you doing today? I know what I’ll be doing: Backing up my hard drive, taking my car for a tune-up and double-checking my campground reservations for this weekend. Why? Because Mercury goes retrograde tomorrow, and I want to be ready for it!
Ok, to be honest I probably won’t do any of the things I just mentioned — even though I know I should. That’s not because I’m a hypocrite, but because I’m a Gemini and frankly I’m not all that organized and I have too much on my plate. But I will try.
I lost my entire hard drive to a Mercury Retrograde mishap last year, and that really taught me a lesson — be prepared when the planet of communication takes a backward spin.
This time around Mercury is going retrograde in the sign of Leo from July 14 to August 8, which is all about creativity and bold expression. So in addition to preparing for those communication, travel and technology mishaps we always experience during MRx, we can also use this time to look back on creative hobbies we used to enjoy and get back to them.
Of course, Mercury Retrograde will affect every zodiac sign a bit differently. Read your horoscope to see how you can best prepare!
As a freedom-loving Gemini, I can’t help but wonder if I’ll even notice when Uranus goes retrograde this Friday the 13th. It’s happening one day before Mercury also goes retrograde, and I know I’ll feel THAT — but Uranus Retrograde? Maybe not so much.
I say that because Uranus Retrograde is all about freedom — letting loose, getting real and coming up with new ways of doing things.
This is a transit that’s all about giving up what isn’t working and experimenting with new things to see if they work better. And frankly, that’s what my Gemini self does most of the time anyway.
I rarely drive the same route to work or back home two days in a row. If someone calls me I e-mail them back. And if I’m halfway through a book I’m not enjoying, I have no problem quitting it.
That’s not to say I’m fickle — I just “get” this whole Uranus Retrograde freedom business to my core.
As for the rest of you, it’s time to face your fear, make some life changes and let loose!
Actually, I prefer a quote from Paul Rudd in the movie “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” in which his surfer dude character says, “When life gives you lemons, just say _ _ _ _ the lemons and bail.” But we can’t really bail on Mercury Retrograde — it is coming whether we like it or not.
Not only that, but it’s H-O-T throughout most of the country right now. Mercury Retrograde tends to create delays and make things break, so I’m concerned that many of us will be stuck in hot, crowded airplanes or accidentally break their air conditioners.
As for me, I’m going camping alongside a swift little river in Washington state, so I’ll be able to keep my cool. (Mercury Retrograde can’t break a river, right?!)
And for the rest of you, there’s a recipe to cure these hot summer troubles. We’re calling it Retrograde Lemonade, and there’s a different recipe tailored to every sign. You know, spicy for Aries and spiked for Sagittarius.
Life’s about to throw us lemons, so let’s fight back with Retrograde Lemonade!
I always like to take a moment at the mid-point of the year and look back at the Yearly Astrology Forecast to see how accurate it’s been, and to refresh my mind on what to expect for the second half of the year.
2012 is an especially interesting year to read about (or should I say “re-read” about) because there are so many significant astrological events taking place — not to mention other newsy items of interest, like the end of the Mayan calendar on December 21, 2012, or the increasing number of solar flares.
Looking back at the 2012 yearly predictions for the first half of the year, I see that they have been pretty spot-on so far — especially when it comes to love. The entire first half of the year was about over-thinking relationships, and I’m guilty as charged.
In fact, this whole year is supposed to bring profound changes to our personal lives and large institutions, and I can feel things changing for me — and I can see things changing for the world. The pace is supposed to start really picking up from here on out, too!
Take a look at the 2012 Yearly Forecast and see if it’s been accurate about your own life, and find out what’s coming up in the next six months. It’s going to be quite a ride!
