I saw a question on the Tarot.com Facebook page the other day that asked, “Do you believe in reincarnation,” and I was blown away to see how many people responded, and how many of those replied yes. Reincarnation is a fascinating topic for me, and it sounds like I’m in good company.
I’ve been intrigued by the idea of reincarnation for years, and I’ve read many books on the topic that describe how the things that happened to you in your past lives can affect your current life.
I’m not just talking about “karma,” per se — ie, if you did something bad or good in a past life it will lead to bad or good things happening to you in this life. That may be true, but I’m talking more about the fact that who we WERE shapes who we ARE.
For example, get this — true story: Long before I began writing about Astrology, a psychic medium told me that in a past life thousands of years ago I was the female leader of a South American Indian tribe, and I was revered for my knowledge of the stars. I would use the stars to guide the tribe, and now check me out — I earn a living as an Astrology writer, helping many modern “tribes” make the most of their daily lives. Hollah!
If you’d like to get started digging into your own past lives, you should check out this intriguing Edgar Cayce Past Life report, written by the most documented psychic of the 20th Century. The report uses your Astrology birth chart to tap into your past lives and personalities that shape who you are today, and it’s full-on fascinating!
The best part is, once you know who you were, you’ll be further on your way to becoming who you want to be now.

I love new things. New friends, new adventures, new shoes and New Moons! Tonight’s New Moon in Cancer (9:24 p.m. PT / 12:24 a.m. ET) begins a new lunar cycle, so it’s time once again to spend a little bit of time thinking about what I want to happen in the month ahead.
The New Moon is always a great time to start new things, and I’m eager to get a jump on a few projects. I want to paint my bathroom, start a new art piece and shop around for new backpacking gear. But this particular New Moon indicates I might be a little slow out of the gate in getting started with those things.
That’s because Cancer is such a cautious zodiac sign, and it advices we take our time in order to make sure everything goes smoothly. So I’ll probably need to spend some extra time thinking and planning before I start doing any of those things. Not to mention Mercury is retrograde until August 8, which also warns against starting new things.
I guess that means for now I’m just going to meditate on what color to paint the bathroom, flesh out that art project in my mind, and compare prices on outdoor gear before making any big purchases.
This need for caution applies to everyone now. This is an emotional New Moon that leaves our feelings a bit raw, so taking time to slow down and carefully think things through is the best way to proceed smoothly.
If we all practice a little bit of patience now, we’ll soon be able to pounce on all our new endeavors with confidence. Maybe I’ll even be able to find someone to paint my bathroom for me.

Have you had any flashes of brilliance in the past week? I sure have. My best idea yet was deciding to bring my disco ball camping, where I then proceeded to make a rope out of duct tape (more brilliance!) and then hung it between two trees. Why? Why not?
Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t planning to disturb the peace with a disco party in the woods. Really, I just thought it would make for some quirky photographs, and also a few laughs. And it did! It pretty much made the whole weekend more fun. See? Genius at work.
If you missed out on your own shot at brilliance last week, don’t fret. There are two more key dates to watch this summer when you might be hit with a stroke of genius: July 25 and August 18.
On those days, Mercury (planet of intellect) will trine Uranus (planet of surprises), just as they did last week. This aspect is so stimulating it will lend excitement to whatever you do on those days.
Of course, the best thing to do those days is break from your normal routine and get outside, travel or just do something new. If you shake up your everyday grind, it’ll be easier to let all those new ideas come to you, plus you’ll have more freedom to put them into action.

Love is complicated enough without Mercury Retrograde adding to the confusion, darn it. I mean, like we really need more miscommunication when it comes to matters of the heart, right?
Well, get ready for it, because Mercury Retrograde is here, and I already had a disagreement with my boyfriend in the first five minutes. (He was wrong, by the way.
MRx messes with communication, technology and travel, so I can think of some of the obvious things that could cause lovers quarrels during Mercury Retrograde.
Maybe you text your sweetie and they don’t text you back. But really it’s because they never got the text. And same goes for e-mail. Text messages and e-mails often misfire during this time.
It’s also possible you’ll say something as a joke that is misunderstood and taken as an insult, which oddly enough is exactly what caused the argument I just had with my own boyfriend. See, this stuff is for real!
Check out this sweet list of MRx love tips so you’ll know what to do and what NOT to do to keep smiling and keep your relationship on track in the next few weeks. Good luck!
