It’s a Creative New Moon in Leo!

posted by Karen A. Kay

I must admit, I’ve got a little bit of writer’s block today. I’m just back from a long backpacking trip in which I went “off the grid,” and it’s a bit of an adjustment getting back into the swing of daily life. I’m not certain I remember how to type, or that I even want to.

It’s a bit of a bummer coming back to the “real world” after days out in the majestic wilderness. I mean, who wouldn’t rather spend their days hiking through alpine wildflower meadows than sitting in a cubicle, right? Which is why I’m really excited about Friday’s New Moon in Leo.

Fortunately, this New Moon in Leo promises to deliver a great big creative boost. But not only that — this particular Leo New Moon is special because it also gives us the patience and strong will to make all our bright ideas happen.

Sometimes your average Leo New Moon can inspire great ideas that lack follow-through, but not this time. Mars and Saturn are making aspects to the New Moon that will get results, so I’m looking forward to getting some great writing projects off the ground later in the week.

Master Astrologer Jeff Jawer wrote a great blog for Tarot.com that goes into detail about this New Moon and why it’s so magical — it’s recommended reading for sure.

As for me, I’m going to spend the rest of today scratching my mosquito bites and rubbing aloe vera into my sunburn, knowing full well my creativity and work ethic will return by week’s end.

Love Is a Battlefield

Get a free Love Tarot Reading from Tarot.comWow, tomorrow is going to be off the cosmic charts! Wednesday, August 15 is filled with all kinds of conflicting planetary energy that will seriously affect personal relationships. We might need to call in some professional help!

On the one hand, Venus is in Cancer, which is a very loving transit. Yet, tomorrow Venus crashes into hard aspects with Pluto, planet of transformation, and Uranus, planet of surprises — which means romantic disruptions and power struggles could arise in relationships.

The good news, however, is that it sounds like it’s going to be a breakthrough kind of day. Breakthroughs can be painful if they involve a struggle at first, but hopefully those of us who go through this tomorrow will clear the air and then find their romance in a more positive place.

At least I hope so. What concerns me is that Mars is conjunct Saturn tomorrow, too, which is another difficult aspect. People can become angry and irritated with each other during this aspect, so that may add fuel to the fire.

The best way to handle all this cosmic upheaval is to distract yourself with a job or project that takes a lot of focus and concentration. That should help take off some of the pressure.

I’m also going to do a love Tarot reading for insight and advice on how to handle any disruptions that may occur in my own relationship tomorrow.

Love is a battlefield, but being prepared is half the battle, right?

Don’t Mess with a Moody Moon

posted by Karen A. Kay

Learn more about the Moon in every sign at Tarot.comWe’re coming off a fun, flirty Moon-in-Gemini weekend, and I hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.

I say that because the Moon moves into moody Cancer today, which always intensifies emotions and can make many of us feel overly sensitive and insecure.  (Man, I sure don’t need any more help with THAT.)

The Moon is strong in Cancer because that’s its home sign, and it tends to make us a little bit needy. Gone are the carefree, lighthearted feelings we’ve had over the past few days. Now we want to be nurtured, and to spend time with close friends and family who make us feel safe and secure.

This is a great day to stick close to home and snuggle up under a pile of cats, if you know what I mean.

The good news is that the Cancer Moon is also making a smooth trine with spiritual planet Neptune and hooking up with love planet Venus, so emotions will stay pretty even for most of the day. There might not be any purring, but we’ll be able to keep the scratching and biting to a minimum.

The Cancer Moon trine Neptune also prevents us from being able to express our feelings very well, but that’s OK considering our cats probably wouldn’t understand what we’re talking about anyway. My own cats only understand four words: “Here, kitty kitty. Dinner!”

Lighten Your Load, Lovers!

Read the Weekend Love Horoscope at Tarot.comOk, I have a confession to make: I’m writing and programming this blog post in advance because I’m on vacation as you’re reading this. I’m going on my first backpacking trip with my boyfriend, out in the rugged wilderness of Washington State.

We’re going on a 4-day trip through difficult terrain, and I feel like it’s going to be a true test of our relationship. The journey will involve hiking uphill between 6-10 miles per day with at least 30-50 pounds on our backs, sleeping on the ground, pooping in the woods and … gasp! No wine!

Don’t get me wrong — I’m really looking forward to it and I love the outdoors. But I’m no dummy. I know how cold it’s going to get at night; I know the mosquitos might be bad; and I know that when people are pushed to their physical limits they sometimes break.

That’s why the first thing I did to prepare for this trip is read the Weekend Love Horoscope. Sure, I got new hiking boots, dug out my compass and map, and checked my Thermarest pad for holes. But I also took a good hard look at what lovers can expect this weekend.

I mean, if I’m heading into a situation that’s emotionally charged from the get-go, isn’t it just as important to prepare for that as it is to bring along mosquito repellent?

Fortunately, the news is good. The Moon will be in Gemini from Friday to Monday, which is always a fun and easy transit. Not to mention me and my boyfriend are both Geminis, so that combined should make for lighthearted and friendly companionship on the trail, and lots of jokes around the campfire at night.

People are typically in a good mood under a Gemini Moon, so that should help prevent any arguments that might break out when we’re pushed to extremes. And pushed to extremes we will be — did I mention there will be NO WINE?
