Sun in PiscesUntil recently, I had almost no Pisces friends. I’ve never dated a Pisces, either, unless you count that one fella I got into an argument with on the very first date. Hmmmm…

I always thought Pisces must be an incompatible match for my particular brand of Gemini. But guess what? I’ve made three — count ’em THREE — Pisces friends in the last year who are amazing me with their Pisces’ power!

Pisces is the most compassionate sign of the zodiac, known for being dreamy and sensitive, with active imaginations. Some people think of this as a lazy sign, and that all you do during Pisces season is lie around and dream.

But resting and dreaming are quite different from being lazy, now aren’t they?

This month, with the Sun is in Pisces from Feb. 18 until March 20, is our chance to rest up before we being a new astrological cycle at the Spring Equinox. It’s important to take care of ourselves, and Pisces empowers us to nourish our souls and regain strength before we begin again.

It’s normal to feel more spiritual during this time, and it’s easier to tap into your intuition. So rather than thinking of this as a lazy time, think of it as a powerful period to take care of yourself and others who need a tender Pisces touch.

mrx-pisces-aquarius-380x235Mercury Retrograde is never very much fun, and as a Gemini it always seems to affect me more because Mercury is my ruling planet. But this time Mercury is going retrograde from February 6-28 in quirky Aquarius and spiritual Pisces, so it might not be so bad.

The thing is, Mercury Retrograde at its best is a time to stop and think and rest and dream. Aquarius is very mental, and Pisces loves to fantasize, so this sounds like an OK combination to me.

Of course, Mercury will be spinning backward over Valentine’s Day, which isn’t the best news for lovers. And yes, there will still be troubles with technology and communications will go awry, but I do think fewer things will go wrong during this Mercury Retrograde than the last one.

You can read more about what to expect during Mercury Retrograde at Tarot.com, and read the horoscopes to prepare for this specific retrograde turn.

Geminis are supposed to feel this retrograde most in the areas of work and career, so I’m going to make sure I don’t have any e-mail misfires on the job and that I’m not the one to break the copy machine!

Good luck everyone, study up and get ready for it!

venus-capricorn-380x235My favorite planet is making news today. Venus, the planet of love, relationships and beauty, is going direct after a month and half in retrograde motion.

Matters of the heart have been complicated during this time — feelings were conflicted and nothing seemed to move forward. There was a lot of over-thinking and analyzing and churning during this time. Do I really want to be with this person? Are they right for me? Do I deserve more?

I’m not speaking of myself, per se. This indecisiveness in love is universal with Venus Retrograde. But now that Venus is going direct, we’ll be able to see our relationships clearly for what they are so we can decide — finally — what to do.

Venus is moving direct in cool Capricorn, which means love will still have a serious tone until it moves on into quirky Aquarius on March 5, 2014. We can expect to take our relationships and commitments more seriously until then, and we will demand the same of our partners, too!

Now is a great time to work through any relationship issues, tackle problems and commit to shared goals. Get to work, lovers! You can accomplish a lot together right now!

bird-sunset-300x300Here comes the Sun, nah na nah na, and I say it’s better than alright because it’s in airy Aquarius!

The Sun moves into breezy, brainy, independent and zany Aquarius on Sunday, January 19, and it signals a beginning of the end of the longest, coldest and most isolating part of winter.

Aquarius is friendly and social and experimental, so this is a great time to get back out of the house you’ve been hibernating in. It’s time to meet up with friends, discuss new ideas and make plans for the future.

I identify strongly with Aquarius because it’s an Air sign, like my own Sun sign of Gemini, and also because my Mars and North Node are in Aquarius — which makes me kind of kooky, like most Aquarians.

My mom’s an Aquarius, and she’s definitely a brilliant eccentric that fits the Aquarian stereotype. Being raised by this quirky lady has given me so much appreciation for this sign. There was never a dull moment growing up with this woman, and now Aquarius season is one of my favorite times of year.

This is when everyone behaves a bit more unpredictably, which makes life more interesting, and people are more willing to get together for happy hour or brunch and just chatter non-stop about all kinds of wacky things.

Prepare to be entertained, people! The Aquarian Sun is melting that icy Capricorn state of mind and amazing things are on the horizon!
