I am a U-Verse customer but I gotta’ admit, there’s something special about DirecTV.

That’s especially true when it comes to sports … DirecTV’s got the most channels and the most in HD as well.

And although it’s too rich for my wallet, the company also offers the lone NFL package. I am OK with that, thanks to NFL Red Zone, which shows many of the best plays of games in key moments.

Speaking of a key moment, DirecTV and News Corporation also averted a possible channel blackout of several FOX channel offerings with a last minute deal Monday.

“We both know the past ten days have been challenging, but we’re pleased that both sides could eventually come together to ensure our viewers continue to enjoy Fox programming,” the companies said in a joint statement.

Spared were sports networks, FX and other Fox-owned cable channels, not to mention tons of embarrassment for both sides.

Congrats to both companies for getting a deal done … perhaps you can offer some advice to the NBA and its players.

I may be back too, as I am not happy about losing ESPN 3D and NHL Network on U-Verse.
