Bristol Palin will be among the cast of this season’s edition of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

The daughter of former GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be hoofing it with the likes of Mike Sorrentino (aka “The Situation” on MTV’s Jersey Shore), Audrina Patridge (MTV’s The Hills) David Hasselhoff (Knight Rider), Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing), Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch), Kyle Massey (That’s So Raven) comedian Margaret Cho, former NBA star Rick Fox and former NFL star Kurt Warner.

This isn’t Bristol’s first foray into television. Earlier this year, she did a small guest spot on ABC Family’s Secret Life of the American Teenager, a dramatic series about an unwed teenager.

So far, her TV choices make sense. Secret Life gave her the opportunity to make some points about the challenges faced by teen mothers — something she, obviously, has some first-hand knowledge of.

As for DWTS, as reality competition shows go, it’s good-natured fun. It’s not The Amazing Race (the gold standard in the genre) but it manages to be quite entertaining without being mean.  On TV these days that’s saying a lot.

In any event, her TV choices are a lot better than those of her baby’s father. Levi Johnston is planning a democracy-exploiting reality show covering his run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.
