To believe in God is much easier for me than not to believe in God. As I sat and pondered as a young child, pinching my arm and realizing I am “me”….but who am I really, where did I come from and why am I here? were questions that came into my mind. So began my search for the answers to those questions….in finding those answers I found a reason to believe in God. __ My father was CAtholic and my mother was Mormon…..two very opposite religions, hence my parents agreed that neither religion would be taught or practiced in our home. We were not forbidden to attend any other Church, and hence I have attended many of which was the Lutheran Church…very much like the Catholic Church, Baptist, Methodist, …..none of which answered my questions satisfactorily.__ In time I met some friends who were LDS, and who invited me to youth activities in the Church which led to other meetings which began my understanding of the beliefs of the Mormons. My questions were answered adequately and after over 50 years, I continue to ponder and search for further understanding of life’s questions. It is vast and consuming!__ Who am I? I am a child of God….His spiritual offspring! Acts 17:28-29__ Where did I come from? I was spiritually begotten in the preexistence…..John 3:13 John 17:3-5 Num. 27:16 Eccl. 12:7 Hebrews 12:9 Revelations 12:7-12__ Why am I here? To reveive a mortal body of flesh and bones

Ms. MacDonald, I do not understand why you decided to make the debate go into the tangent of other religions. From my experience this is a discussion tactic that is used against believers. It completely attempts to by-pass the topic though staying within the realm of the subject of Faith. Religion is something that you discuss after you believe, or after you have discussed belief. It would be like for a 15 year old to dismiss getting their license because they don’t like certain things about some car brands. The truth is that you are addressing Christianity when you speak of other religions. You want to make the sinister parallel that Christianity is no better.

How Do We Tell A True Act of God From A False One?
Dear Michael: Thank you again for this exchange, Michael; I am grateful that you took the time to teach me with such patience and tolerance. In all honesty, I can't follow your subtle discussion of the relationship between natural laws and Divine Providence. The fault is mine. I think you are sayi

Do You Wonder About the Source of Meaning?
Dear Heather, I really enjoy the way you conduct a path through our disagreements. You are tough, but open to differences. As we have agreed from the first, to achieve real disagreement is a long-term task; it takes a lot of brandies sipped slowly together (so to speak) to get past the misunderstan

What About Other Religions?
Dear Michael: Thank you so much for your candid and probing response; it is most illuminating. Before addressing your final question, I am going to risk characterizing your presentation of religious faith. Some of our readers, if not you yourself, may find this presumptuous; if so, I accept their c

Faith Is Not Just Belief
Dear Heather: There are many aspects of popular Catholic faith that have sometimes shocked me and turned me away. Yet I well remember visiting the great Catholic shrine at Czestechowa, in Poland, where once almost a million people turned out for Pope John Paul II when he first pierced the Iron Curta
