Edie’s Book: The Bliss Mistress Guide To Transforming The Ordinary Into The Extraordinary is a distillation of more than 50 years of life experiences through the heart, mind and eyes of the author. The chapters weave their way through joys and challenges, bringing with them 'portable life skills' that assist the reader in re-creating their lives magnificently. Laughter and tears are both welcome as the pages are turned and readers recognize themselves in the 'word pictures' that are painted. The book has a “Chicken Soup For The Soul” flavor to it. Inquiry questions follow each chapter to invite the reader to explore more deeply.

A Wrinkle In Time

When I love a book, I read it multiple times, finding it intriguing and compelling. Such is the case of the 1962 classic young adult novel by Madeleine L’Engle called A Wrinkle In Time.  It entered my life in […]

One Minute Mindfulness

Although there is alot to love about Donald Altman’s latest book entitled One minute Mindfulness: 50 simple ways to find peace, clarity, and new possibilities in a stressed-out world, my favorite portion opens the door for what follows:  […]

You’re Perfect

What if you knew that you were ‘perfect’, as is…without judgment or condemnation? Once upon a challenging day, a young man named Benjamin Smythe had what I think of as a ‘God-vers-ation’. What emerged was the idea […]

A Path With A Heart

The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge by anthropology student Carlos Castaneda,  came into my life in the 1970′s  although it was published  in 1968. Autobiographical?  Allegorical?  Both?  It didn’t really matter to this youthful spiritual seeker […]

The Now What Club

Enjoy Every Moment
Feeling emotionally raw at the moment, having just returned from a day of honoring my friend Delane Lipka. I had written about another extraordinary day in a previous Beliefnet article called In the Garden of Eden that described a gathering of kindred spirits that had been organized by Delane. For d

Cardia-versary
This morning marks 3 months since I experienced the kind of pain that cracks you open and has you revealing the emotional viscera that had long lay dormant. Literally at this moment, I was captured by the symptoms of a heart attack- searing heart burn pain, jaw tightness and wringing wet sweats. I s

Cosmic Coincidence
My definition of cosmic coincidence are those events that have me shaking my head in bewildered awe, asking "What are the chances that such a thing could happen?"  My answer is always the same. "100%, since it occurred." It is that encounter with just the right person, hearing a song on the radio r

Transformation Takes Determination
As I was on my daily walk today, decked out in my navy blue t-shirt with the word TRANSFORM scripted on the front of it, it occurred to me that if I want to transform any aspect of my life, there are several essential ingredients. 1-Quoting Joe Jackson "You can't get what you want, til you know
