The broadly grinning man with a knowing laugh, as if he gets the cosmic joke, stood in front of the room at Circle of Miracles,  filled with folks who were listening, fascinated as he wove stories about being an actor/action hero; a whip cracking, sword yielding spiritual renegade. According to his website “As a professional Fight Director, John has had the honor of becoming  one of forty fight directors invited to teach with the International  Order of the Sword and Pen (IOSP). This honor cast him along side of  fight directors from The Folger Shakespeare Theater and The Royal  Academy of Dramatic Arts, and from films such as Star Wars, Lord of the  Rings and The Highlander.”  He has been a regular presence at Renaissance Faires for many years as well as a speaker at New Thought Churches and entertaining troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

How do you live your bliss?

This is a wonderful question. How does one live their bliss? For me I celebrate Love in all facets everyday. I Love My wife and son, rainy days and coffee in the mornings. I focus on the joyful aspects in life and so life returns the favor. I love my life because I live it. By being bliss, you experience bliss.

You are a Renaissance man who wears many hats. How would you describe yourself?

I guess I would describe myself by stealing a line from the burning bush story, “I am that I am.”  I feel that in our lives we are constantly in motion and the many things I do are indicative of the things I enjoy. I enjoy coaching people to set and reach their potential, but I also enjoy teaching stage combat to actors. I enjoy performing my comedy sword-fighting show and also enjoy quiet times in meditation. I am simply being me to the best of my ability and yet I also believe that we are all connected through God/Universe/Source. So in the end I am being the best part of us I can be, and I call that part “John.”

Please speak about the action hero concept that you explored with us at Circle of Miracles.

We each are living both spiritual and physical lives. This means that to experience who we are, we must experience both. Many people who declare themselves as “spiritual” live lives of lack and frustration. Others who define themselves as physical lack purpose. The truly rounded individual incorporates both aspects. The truly enlightened person sets intention, acts upon the new belief, and receives the experience they desire. Action is a step in our process to creation. Action in any direction creates. Inaction creates nothing. An action hero is a person who achieves extraordinary results through thought, word, and deed. It all comes down to the “deed” in the end. Focus on  the  outcome then take action towards it as if it was being achieved and you will witness it manifesting around you.

I loved the description of  simplicity vs. struggle when it comes to whip cracking. Can you elaborate please?

How we manifest our life is like using a bullwhip.  I decide on my goal, and make decisive actions to reach it, “ the crack”.   When we allow distractions to alter our course, we struggle and loose sight of our goal, “no crack”. Unfortunately, if our momentum begins with with struggle and discord, our goal can never be realized. I truly believe we are a product of our belief about our present moment. You are what you are not what you will be. So if we simply believe in an easy life, we get it and if we believe it is a struggle, then all we get is a struggle. A childhood friend of mine always believed things came to him easy and that he always had plenty of money. He recently told that me he gives himself $20,000 a year to blow on toys. I grew up in a family that struggled for money and was filled with limiting belief. It wasn’t until I changed the belief about my life that things began changing for the better . I just simply believe.

Juxtaposed with that image is the John of Peniel persona. How did he come to your awareness?

The question sounds sort of Schizophrenic.  LOL. I am now a believer in reincarnation, but wasn’t when the information about my past life was brought to me. I had a series of nineteen different psychics tell me about my past life as John the beloved Apostle, after which I had a past life regression and remembered that life as well. I feel privileged to have those memories, but I am very clear that it is all me. They are just earlier memories. One lesson I received in this amazing journey, is that it does not matter who anyone was in a past life. It only matters what you are doing right here, right now. Many people hear about my past life experiences and want to associate me as a holy man or an apostle. I am just a person like any other person, as you are. I feel we are each on our own journey and how we live our lives through thought, word, and deed is what matters.

Please tell us about him.

In that past life, I was blessed to have a wonderful teacher. His name was Jeshua, and I felt a real brotherhood with him. He taught through living his way, his truth and his life. He asked us each to do the same.  And so I lived as the best me that I could be. I admired Jeshua as one would any mentor with vast knowledge. The greatest lesson I learned at the time was to fully be myself in all aspects. In my life at the time, nothing was more important than my friend and teacher. It seemed that though there was so much to learn, the lesson was simple, “ Be Love.”

How does the way we use language impact on outcome in our lives?

Words are a direct product of your belief. When counseling individuals I am reviewing the words they are using and specifically how they relate to their belief about their present moment. The Book of John, (which I’m really proud of-LOL) begins with “in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.” Let’s look at this statement from a different perspective,” In the beginning of your creations is your word and the word went out and was with God/ Universe/Source and God created it in its own image” and so the word actually was “God.” If we become very conscious about our words we become very conscious of our true beliefs. As Buddha would say,” What you think you become. You create your world.” Those beliefs behind the words are creative. Change the thought behind the words, change the words, and change the experience. In the Bible the disciples asked Jeshua what diet they should follow. His answer was ,” I would be more worried about what comes out of your mouth then what goes in. “
