Capadoccia came to be called the Christian region of Turkey. It is indeed where the many famous cave churches and underground churches are, the region of the really amazing looking fufa hills which are soft and can be carved into various shapes. In this post and the next we will be dealing with Capadoccia. First, and quite literally the overview— from a hot air balloon, which by the way was one of the great and most peaceful experiences I have had in life.

The ride begins at dawn, and much depends on the winds, of course.

Got to fire up the balloon and fill it full of hot air, sort of like the preparation of a rhetorician before a big speech 🙂
