Okay, I know you hate to do stomach crunches.  Here is something more effective that you can do, almost without noticing it,

One of the best ways to strengthen your abs is by just holding them in.  You can do that anywhere — even in at your desk or in the car.

First, get your posture right.  Pretend you are clenching a hundred dollar bill in the cheeks of your buttocks.  That will automatically give you the right tilt.  Next, pull your stomach in toward your backbone and hold for a few seconds.

You need to do this a lot for it to be effective, so plan to do it with specific activities.  You can do it during commercials on television, or while you are on Facebook.  (“But I’m not wasting time.  I’m exercising!” you can say.) You can do it while standing at the sink to rinse your dishes.   You can even work on those abs at stoplights or when you answer the phone.

I made a habit of walking down my hallway using this posture and pulling in my stomach. It’s become automatic now. Whenever I walk down the hallway I do this ab exercise without thinking — which I never managed with stomach crunches.

No need to carve out extra time at the gym to work on your abs.  Keep pulling those muscles in and pretty soon they will be strong enough to stay put!
