How do you survive the holidays without packing on holiday pounds — which most of us keep from now on?  We talked about being aware of the temptations and planning ahead.  Also, adding steps to our days can help counteract those extra calories.

My next tip — buy lots of food!   It’s particularly important that you have a good supply of your favorite low glycemic foods on hand.  Nothing will cause you to stumble more quickly than to be hungry and tired and find there is nothing low glycemic that is easy to fix and eat.  Make sure your pantry is well-stocked with staples like nuts and nut butters, and put a festive fruit basket on your table for handy snacking.  Keep eggs  and cheese in the refrigerator for a quick, low glycemic meal.  This might be the time to splurge on a pre-prepared vegetable tray.  Eat the raw veggies with Himalayan salt — which is good for you — instead of high calorie dip and you have an especially healthy and easy-to-eat snack.

Use your slow cooker to have meals ready for you when you get home from a long day shopping and cook extra so you can eat leftovers for a cooking-free day.

Plan ahead and make sure you don’t get too hungry and too tired at the same time. You can enjoy an occasional treat, and still avoid the extra weight gain.

You can do this!
