Prayer for Perfectionists

posted by Beyond Blue

I have been sent the prayer by St. Theresa, my patron saint, so many times. But reading it today, I realized it’s the perfect prayer for perfectionists. Here it is:

May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each a nd every one of us.

I’m finally reading this blog when I NEED it – in the morning, before a hectic day. Thanks for reminding me that I am a child of God, and He is reflected in all that I do. You are a treasure, Therese, and thanks for introducing me to your patron saint. I shall not squander my talents, nor ignore those who can benefit from them.
Yours in Christ,
SuzanneWA

when i shared this prayer to my bestfriend, a girlfriend, we both cried, it sticks to my bones. i felt God’s presence while praying this prayer. I have a deep great devotion to St Therese, Little Flower of Jesus Christ. I have a lot of pictures of her in my room and also her Holy Rosary that smells of flowers. I will try to memorize this prayer and share to my other friends. dawn.

In our down trodded times of war and peace, prayer is the best answer.
I think some people have a sense of fear in themselves, doubting that the prayer will be heard and/or answered. This all comes by faith. We all can use a song that reaches our very souls. We all can use some praise. Unfortunately praise is limited. We all should get up and dance. The motion opens up our souls and spirits to be free and to feel, yes feel. Love, what can be said about love other than that it has the greatest rewards.
Thanks for the prayer. It is empowering to me.

I am a strong Catholic woman who has had God in my heart since I can remember. When I was going through a difficult time in my life my Grandmother and my Mother told me to pray to Saint Theresa and to have..faith..that she will pray with me and that God will hear and answer my prayer and so then I prayed to her for five days straight and then followed by the five Hail Marys, five Our Father and then five Glory Be prayers. I can tell you this…Saint Theresa does answer your prayers with roses. I have smelled roses after praying to her and felt truly loved by God and I prayed again and my neighbor brought me a rose and again I prayed and my daughter handed me a new shirt with roses on it and again I prayed and I was given a rose glass-case covered with roses and then the last time a prayed to Saint Theresa and on the next day I was staring at Saint Theresa on my computer and I did not google her to come up on the screen.I believe she is one of the most loving Saints given to us by God and I will forever praise her in her glory…May God send you many blessings, Joy

prayers are gifts to god from his children. I pray that he will lift up his children from sickness and loss. I have recently lost a loved one and need prayers for her to have a joyous transition to the other side. I slos believe that god is with us in our time of need nurturing his children and embracing them. I send my love out to the world that we may find peace within and send it out to others in need. God bless to Mary Jo my dear friend who is in a loss at this time. Love always God’s Daughter.

Thank you for posting this prayer. The line about “passing on the love that has been given you” really resonated with me today especially. This is a great prayer for perfectionists as well as wannabe perfectionists. It’s so hard some days to remember to take it to the Lord, but this prayer helps us to do just that.
Peace

The Prayers are needed for us to realize that we are GOD chosen ones, that we are never left alone. We often forget that he rules, and own the whole world. No matter what we go through, the storm, the rain, the heartache, the pain,we still have joy.But remember the cross that we carry cannot be compared to the heavy cross that JESUS carried.May GOD keep you and bless you always.

The part that said “May you be content knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.” almost brought me to tears. I have recently changed career paths and started working as a Pre-K teacher. I am unable to have children of my own due to a birth defect. (I had a hysterectomy at age 11.) And I have learned so much from these kids, mostly things about myself. I am a child at heart and always will be. I need to be proud of that and be content in that, knowing I am a child of God no matter my age. I love the thought of letting that “settle into my bones” how awesome!

Missy,
Your Pre K class are your children. To some children, a teacher may be the closest thing to a “parent” they will see on a daily basis. Cherish the role God has given you & be thankful.

To Susie,
Dear One, AS SOON as I read your letter…I started
Praying for You and Your Dear Son “Nick”
I prayed that Our HEAVENLY FATHER ease
your burdens, and to help to heal Your Son,
and to always Look-After, Protect, and Heal ALL
The Children of the world.
I personally know what you’re going through,
and I have SOOOOOOOOO MUCH on me…but even though
I do NOT consider it a consolation…know that there
are SO MANY Other Dear souls out there who are
going through so much more, Tragedy, Sicknesses,
Loneliness, Strife, Hunger, Homelessness, Death,
Divorces, etc; etc.
I KNOW that our needs are Important to us…But
when we think of ALL the other Problems that are
Plaguing Man-kind…Well…it just seems to make
MY “Problems” (even though important) somewhat
less burdensome.
I Hope That You Understand What I’m Trying
To Say…And Hopefully Help To “Lighten Your Load”
I’m sure you know, (by now) that there
are Support Groups EVERYWHERE out there for
“Children, And Families With ADHD”
I Pray Dear One…That You Somehow Receive
This. And It Will help You To Know…You’re NOT
Alone.
May GOD Keep And Bless You And Yours Always…
In JESUS’ Holy Name, AMEN.
With Love To You, Nick, And All.
Your Brother In CHRIST…~ ~ Lone Wolf ~ ~

May the Lord hold you and your lovely son Nick in the palm of His hand and strengthen you both. On a practical level, perhaps you could research the effect of yeast on our children’s behaviour – just google ‘yeast’ and you will be amazed.
You are both in my prayers.

Dear Susie,
I could not help but feel the frustration you are going through. I have worked with ADHD kids on a volunteer basis in the past, and it’s unfortunate when a school is unable to cope as we would like them to…to be more understanding and more able to assist and work with the kids. I have both seen and heard of other similar situations, and I can only say that my heart reaches out to you and I have said a prayer for both you and your child. I will place your names on our prayer roll at church and I know that there is great power in prayer and in numbers.
One thing I will pass along to you, and of this you can be certain…God will not give us any more than we are capable of handling, and He will always be with us and assist us as long as we go to Him in prayer, BELIEVING that He will answer us. Faith is not know that He can do something for us, but that He WILL.
Your brother in Christ,
Bob
