Ten Years

Thanks to all of you who asked about the ruling on the motorcycle accident case for which I almost served as a juror. The defendant faces a maximum of ten years in prison. I cringed when I read this statement by his lawyer (granted, lawyers have to say these things, but still…): “Justice wasn’t served today. I can’t believe that everyone on that jury, after listening to the evidence, that they could come back with a clear conscience with a guilty verdict.” Speaking of consciences, mine wasn’t feeling so hot either.

It does seem like a long time but you didn’t hear all the evidence. If you had been there you may have formed the same opinion as the jury.
