It’s been a relatively good Friday for Ali Hussain Sibat, the Lebanese TV fortune-teller arrested by Saudi Arabia’s religious police and convicted of witchcraft last year. CNN reports that his attorney said he has not been beheaded today after all, though he remains sentenced to death. It seems the efforts by Amnesty International and other international human rights groups have helped save his life, for now — but I would imagine that, given the religious reasons for his imprisonment and conviction, Muslim authorities need to get involved to have Sibat freed.
