One day I was sitting reflecting over my life and I realized in my introspection that most of my life I was quite unhappy. In fact, I would say I was miserable.  But, what shocked me even more was how comfortable it was for me.  I soon discovered that I wasn’t alone.  Many others found themselves in the same dysfunctional emotional state.

In dealing with my coaching clients, I discovered this phenomenon that many of us are oblivious to: we are comfortable resting in an emotion that is typically negative.  Frightening right? My hope for those of you that are reading this blog, that you take some time to really examine your life and see if this applies to you. How do we break this unhealthy cycle?

The hardest thing to do in life is to face yourself as you are– not as you imagine.  Within that facing of yourself lies the next step: accepting yourself.  This should be done with love and care.  For me my breakthrough came when I fully embraced that I was comfortable in being victimized, depressed and miserable.  I was embarrassed at first, but once I took ownership of it I noticed that the burden of shame I had was lifted.  Soon I found myself thinking with clarity and I took the steps I needed to shed the emotional sheet that covered me and brought me comfort.

Today if you find yourself in a similar situation don’t feel bad.  Feel empowered.  Know that part of getting toward greatness requires going through some unpleasant things.  However, once confronted you’ll really appreciate and have gratitude for your new found revelation.

Remember we have the ability to not only change our world, but the world as a whole….BE GREAT!!

Until Next Time,

Pervis
