Does Anyone Really Believe We Can Create Peace With Violence?

posted by Susan Gregg

I talk a great deal about emotional neutrality and the perfection of everything. I know every event is perfect and that doesn’t mean that at times I don’t have strong reactions, judgments and profound wonderment at our choices as a species. This week I had one of those moments. I definitely did NOT see this event through the eyes of the angels but I am working on that.

Celebrating Osama bin Laden’s death

people celebrating bin ladenNo man chooses evil because it is evil; he only mistakes it for happiness, the good he seeks. Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley

I watched the images of people celebrating the killing of Osama Bin Laden and was deeply saddened. It is that very behavior that helps nurture the creation of terrorists. Hatred and judgment creates the perception of the need to retaliate.

Do people really not see the inevitability of al-Qaeda getting even? As with Hitler, I wonder about the beliefs, agreements and assumptions that created these men. I hope some day we will be willing to look at our collective filter system with a willingness to see it and modify it.

I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. Martin Luther King, Jr

My question is when will we get that? When will we realize that judgment and hatred will never create peace? As long as we live in a world driven by right and wrong we will create a world filled with hatred, judgment and war.

Today My Spiritual Practice Is To Love The War On _____ You Fill In The Blank

Today my spiritual practice is to accept, embrace and love the people that celebrate Osama Bin Laden’s death. I want to be bale to love all the people that believe the war on terrorism or the war on drugs or the war on illegal aliens will succeed and improve the world.

It will take lots of self talk on my part, prayer, meditation, love, forgiveness, more love, more surrendering and LOTS OF LOVE to get there. I may not get there today or tomorrow or next year but it is my intent to release all internal conflict and judgments. I will create peace within, without that there is no hope for peace out there.

I do not know with what weapons World War 3 will be fought, but World War 4 will be fought with sticks and stones. Albert Einstein

Blessed be,
Susan

While we can understand the relief and satisfaction this event may have seemed to bring some people, most of the celebration was probably more desperation. Fear fueled by years of media and politicians painting one person as the do all, end all of terror led to this moment. The truth is that while his deeds were heinous, he did not do all the damage alone. People are desperate to find security and they look for it in all directions.

To celebrate the death of one person is to lose the person you are.

I in no way support or condone terrorist activity which is a coward way of taking innocent lives to spew their anger and jealousy of another, but my heart felt heavy when I saw the rejoicing of anothers death. What have we become? Does that make us like them? Revenge or an eye for and eye will not bring back one life from 9-11. I felt the same when Sadam’s hanging was shown on TV. Both these men have done hidious crimes but is it our job to police the world? So to answer the question, no I do not believe peace can be gained by violence. And I am still wondering what that Nobel Peace Prize was for??? Peace would come if the greed would cease.

I have to agree with the fact that many people saw a sense of rejoice with the death of a vicious killer. But I also feel that we are in such a dramatic time of change not only with our universe but within our selves. People must really be hurting within themselves to revel in violence of another human being. Is this justice, in many eyes? apparently, it is for them… But I see things with different eyes, and different truths…if you look at history and truly understand the the dichotomy of life you see that everything is in relationship to one another. The tide goes in the tide go out, the stock market rises and falls, grass grows effortlessly and dies, then with the breath of spring the process begins again..all with a perfect divine plan, timing, and scheme of the earth natural push and pull so to speak.
How can you know if something is cold, if you haven’t experienced hot, how can you know if someone is violent, if you haven experienced peace, and true inner love… enlightment to the fullest.
So yes peace is other side of violence in my understanding. You have to experience one to know the other, this is physics and the laws of nature..
Everyone evolves at a different pace based on their purpose in their lifetime…some people evolve slower and do things that fit where their are on their journey… I do not judge that, I just understand that it exists, and am very hopeful that evolution of man on earth will rise to a level of enlightment that demonstrates peace, love, forgiveness, etc.. it is with this higher wisdom of man that finally the whole conscienousness of the world will change.. that humans will realize who they really are at their level of essence. beings of love, peace, joy, forgiveness, etc.. It is now beginning to happen through all of the sadness, loss of life, natural disasters.. etc.. I pray this way of think is short lived and people will evolve to a higher level of understanding…..

What do angels know that we don't know?
The main thing angels know that we tend to forget is that this is a safe universe and that we are loved, unconditionally. They know that only the love is real and that everything else is an illusion or delusion created by our filter system: our beliefs, agreements and assumptions. Love, happin

Refelctions on the Vietnam War
I was surprised when I was reminded that it was the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. I was in high school when the war started and much of my early life was lived against the back drop of vivid images of the war every night on the evening news. When I was in college the massacre at Kent State
