Here is a bit of history about Valentine’s Day:

The modern St. Valentine’s Day celebrations are thought to be derived from both ancient Christian and Roman tradition. The holiday was originally an ancient Roman festival of fertility celebration that used to observed
annually on February 15. As Christianity expanded in Europe many of the pagan holidays were renamed for and dedicated to the early Christian
martyrs.

St. Valentine was a priest who lived around 270 AD in Rome and attracted
the disfavor of Roman emperor Claudius II who ruled during this time. Claudius had banned marriage for young men. He felt marriage made soldiers weak. St. Valentine secretly performed marriage ceremonies for these young men. It was at a time when the Roman empire was beginning to dissolve and more laws seemed like the answer.

The kindly bishop Valentine realized the injustice of Claudius’ decree.
He saw the trauma of young lovers who had no hopes of being united
in marriage. While in prison Claudius tried to convert him tot he Roman gods but he refused. He was ‘martyred’ for refusing to renounce his faith.
Valentine is believed to have been executed on February 14, 270 AD.

Be your won beloved today and share your love with the world. If you have another be thankful and share that love freely.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With love and aloha,
Susan
