Today is the one year anniversary of my Father’s death. I spent quite a bit of time thinking about how I was going to honor this day. My father loved his vegetable garden. When I was younger he would get up around dawn and spend a few hours weeding his garden. There was never a weed in sight and he loved his garden.

When my dad came to live with me the first time I had a vegetable garden put in for him. The other day I noticed it was getting pretty over run with weeds. So, after some prayer and meditation I decided to honor the day of my dad’s passing by working in the garden.

garden dad.jpgI am always amazed at some of the events the universe has in store for me. I went to the garden and lovingly weeded the pepper patch and thought about my dad. I enjoyed staking the plants and putting compost around the roots. I decided I would mulch the patch so I went back to the house and got the box of used computer paper from under my desk.

The last piece of paper I pulled out of my recycle box was a picture of my dad smiling at me. It was from a post I wrote on his birthday. I cried at the unexpected sight of his smiling face and knew he was with me weeding his garden. I lovingly put his picture under one of the pepper plants. I couldn’t have done that intentionally in a million years.

Here is the picture. One thing I have found since I began working with angels, life is never dull and there are lots of wonderful surprises.

I miss you dad and am so glad you showed up to say hi today in the garden.

With love and aloha,
Susan
