Fearless Friday: Don’t ask, don’t tell

posted by Susan Gregg

The Armed Services Committee has voted 16-12 to repeal the controversial “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy about gays in the military. This will allow the Senate to vote on this fear based policy.

Fear causes all of our judgments. I have noticed that homosexuality and abortion seem to evoke incredible amounts of fear and judgment and then we create more laws.

These wonderful gay men and women have been serving the US military for years and in return have received judgment and expulsion from the service.

What does your fear stop you from doing in your life? What does your fear cause you to do? When I make my choices based on fear I seldom like the outcome. Love and accpetance will set us free. Angels never judge, they just love everyone.

My hat is off to the Senators that voted to lift the ban and my prayers are with the Senators stuck in their fear and judgment who voted against lifting the ban. May love fill their hearts and free them from judgment and fear.

    Hi Susan,
I have read a few of your postings in the past, but this one really hit me where it counted. Thank You.
You asked “what has fear stopped you from?”
I will be as honest, and as open as I can about this, as it is very difficult for me to face for even myself.
I am a bisexual woman. I have been stopped by fear from admitting this to my husband (at the time of the affair), myself (after my lover’s death), and my family (fear of their judgements). After 2 failed marriages, my current boyfriend (my way of hiding my secret), was able to get me to open up and admit to him, and myself the fact that I am bisexual. I have been afraid of dishonoring my lesbian lover’s memory, so I kept our secret for over 17 years. I outright lied to my ex-husband about the affair with her. I refused to admit to myself that I love women (about 75%) and men (about 25%).
Feel free to e-mail me about this if you like, or have more questions. I firmly believe that admission of our secrets is very freeing to the spirit.

mouseypapesh, thanks for sharing that. What courage that took. I often heard it said that secrets separate us from ourselves, from God however we define that and from true love. The truth will set us free.
I am sure the angels are dancing!
With lots of love, aloha and a big, happy smile,

Thank You, I know the Angels are dancing, because the whole atmosphere of my house, and spirit changed, and was much lighter as soon as I hit the post button on my comuter.
G_D Bless You and have a great memorial day weekend! :)

What do angels know that we don't know?
The main thing angels know that we tend to forget is that this is a safe universe and that we are loved, unconditionally. They know that only the love is real and that everything else is an illusion or delusion created by our filter system: our beliefs, agreements and assumptions. Love, happin

Refelctions on the Vietnam War
I was surprised when I was reminded that it was the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. I was in high school when the war started and much of my early life was lived against the back drop of vivid images of the war every night on the evening news. When I was in college the massacre at Kent State

What love can do ....
Angels are messengers of love ... we can be the person who creates more love with our actions. We can be somebody's angel . . . Here is a 'feel good' video about what a difference a small action can make.
