A corner stone of lasting happiness is the ability to accept what is while not spending a lot of time wanting something we don’t have. What is is. We can’t do anything to change that but depending on the choices we make in the moment, what we choose to focus our attention on and the emotions we project we can certainly influence what comes next.

I am reading a beautiful book called The Bread of Angels by Stephanie Saldana. She is living in the Damascus and after spending time in a Christian Monastery she begins to study the Quran with a Sheikha, I have always loved listening to the call of prayers when I have spent time in Egypt. She talks about reading the Quran out loud and the beauty of the words.

Two things that really stood out for me as she read the Quran was when God had all the angels bow down to Adam and how God had turned to Adam and Eve before they left the garden, forgiving them. Her teacher said that there was no original sin.

Angels were created by that force of creation so many of us call God and so was everything else in the universe. We are all made of the same stuff. Who are we to judge what is? Who are we to deny the perfection of everything in the universe?

When I align myself with that perfection I see life in the same compassionate way as the angels and I can add my loving thoughts to the soup of creation. I used to waste a lot of time worrying about or judging what already existed in my life. I have found that it is much more productive to accept what is and then decided what I’d like to create next.

When I fly to the mainland from Hawaii the plane is off course more than it is on course, the autopilot just keeps making corrections so we get to our destination. If a pilot knows which airport he is in and has a map he can navigate anywhere.

What is is, where do you want to go from there? Angels always live in the moment and accept what is, do the same thing and see what happens to your life. Ask them for help and watch the magic and miracles that occur.

With love and aloha,
Susan
