Aloha,

Have you ever noticed how fear seems so much more prevalent in humans than love. Over 2000 years ago Jesus showed up with a very simple message: love one another, turn the other cheek, embrace all people, the kingdom lies within, don’t judge and above all else love, just love. Here we are 2000 years later, we still hurt one another, judgment abounds and turning the other cheek has been reinterpreted to mean lots of other things rather than just turn the other cheek. What’s up with that?

Why do we keep choosing fear over love? All judgment is fear based and has nothing to do with love, yet we judge so easily.

Spiritual practices take practice. Fear is just a habitual way of thinking so if we want to choose love more often we need to practice choosing love.

I find this simple exercise useful for whenever we are determined to change a habitual way of being or thinking. Carry a pad with a line down the center. On the top of one column write love and the other judgment or fear. During the day pause often, notice your thinking and put a check in the appropriate column. At the end of the day notice your score. Practice with the intent of having all your check marks in the love column.

This world would certainly be a very different place if more people simply stopped judging.

With love and aloha,
Susan
