[Update to this post from Monday. Nearly 20,000 people have already signed the pledge! If those who have signed would just do one thing to help another person in hunger, 20,000 people would be helped this month. Thanks for helping change the world!]

Feeding America wants you to join them in fighting hunger this month. Why? In a time when 1 in 6 American struggle with hunger, our nation’s leaders are considering cuts of over 9% to current national feeding programs. While a balanced budget is important, it cannot take place at the expense of forgetting our nation’s poor.

To help, you can support their pledge to act this month to support hunger action month. By joining the pledge, volunteering to help fight hunger in your community, giving food or financial assistance, or speaking out against hunger in our nation, you can help make the difference. Below is the information and pledge text from Change.org. Please join, like, and share with others who will help support the end of hunger in America.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT

Right now, Congress is considering drastic cuts to federal nutrition programs that help put food on the table for vulnerable children, families and seniors. Hard-working adults, children and seniors who cannot make ends meet are forced to go without eating for sometimes several days at a time. September, Hunger Action Month, is a time where we can all join together to fight hunger in America.

Nutrition assistance programs have always had strong bipartisan support, yet at a time when 1 in 6 American struggles with hunger and unemployment remains over 9%, cuts are being discussed. Cutting nutrition programs is not a way to balance the federal budget.

Join Feeding America in making a difference – take action as part of Hunger Action Month.
