“Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” -1 Thessalonians 2:8

When the apostle Paul traveled to new cities to share the message of Jesus, he was much more than a speaker. As an authentic follower of Jesus Christ, he sought to both teach and live the hope that was within him.

Now, 2,000 years later, those who examine the life of Paul often concentrate much more on his talk than his walk. Yet the two are inseparable parts of his communication. Just as he was 100% committed to his beliefs, those who wish to emulate his example today must likewise be committed to the Christian message in all areas of life.

Teaching without example lacks power. Example without teaching lacks clarity. Teaching with example serves as the key to transforming lives.

The New Testament calls this discipleship. Discipleship is not a program, a book, or a degree program. Rather, discipleship is living and sharing the gospel before others. Put another way, discipleship is being Jesus others.

Be the gospel.
