What do you believe?

Any excuse for a party is a good excuse. And remember 6-6-06 only happens every hundred years!

I believe there is no "beast" and I believe there is no god of love and mercy.

Kiddies, be not afraid, it will come and go just like so many "special" dates have come and gone in the past.

Once again "religion" will be shown-up for what it is, myth and superstition, and just because myth and superstition are real, it doesn't make religion real.

“One effect this is having is to produce the classical ‘cry-wolf syndrome, even with some believers,” he wrote. “And that is a pity, because it eventually leads to unbelief.”

We can only hope. That would be a very logical result of all the mistakes of Christianity (and other religions).

Too bad as it's today. Many scholars are now saying the correct translation is 616!

What about the people who do suffer from the phobia that is listed in the article? I think bringing up things like this and plastering "mark of the beast" all over this article don't exactly help these people. Bad move, beliefnet!

Do we really not have anything better to do?

To represent our number of interest, six hundred sixty-six, rather than using three identical characters (666) as we do in our decimal place-value system, a first century Greek writer (if not spelling out the words just as we also can) would use three distinct characters (chi=600)(xi=60)(sigma=6) This is the Miletus system. It requires a total of 27 characters. If the Roman numeral system were used it would be DCLXVI = 500 + 100 + 50 + 10 + 5 + 1.

When I had to take certain standardized tests, everybody had a certain official number, and mine was 666. A little unsettling, particularly because they're very important tests. Also, I took some of the tests in a church (I live in the Bible Belt; nobody cares if the schools rent out a religious hall when they need extra room). I just hope no wackos or terrorists decide Tuesday would be a good day to do something crazy, though (or for that matter, any Antichrists). God bless!

Yeah.. That sounds like a plan, Livin. We'll probably do the same here. Sit outside on the porch and wait for "the end".

I am making it a party night : ) I am going to have a few snacks, watch some history channel anti-christ specials, then watch a good scary movie.
