Denisemac if anyone cared enough to read one would see that 666 is not a date but the reference of a name of a human who will come into power. There was also 06-06-1906 and down the line and nothing happened. No where does the bible give a actual date to worry about. Second, if we take time to seek the signs of the end times we know they are not here yet but close. "A man in power who claims to be a man of God and declaring to bring peace to the earth but peace he knows not and wars" "when this person comes into a power of the earth many will be decieved he has the power of God and will think himself a God" "he goes to war by rumors of war" "there will be union of 10 countries who will give him power" "a religous leader of reunified religion of 7 sister churches and it's mother church will also give him power" search if I am not right

eastcoastlady Maybe I'm just not schooled enough into exactly what the meaning is of "666", but I tend to look at is as just silliness.

It also seems one more way to take away personal responsibility for when we give in to our own evil inclinations and make bad choices, using the existence of a "devil" who tempts us instead of realizing that we live with temptation all the time and need to make choices all the time.

thefish I have a different take on the numbers. I look at the clock almost every day when it hits 3:33. I don't know why. I have awoken at exactly 3:33 on many occasions. Take 666 divide by the number 2 (the divine dichotemy) meaning everying has an opposite...right/left, up/down, male/female, light/dark, etc...and you get 333 which is the number of the trinity 3 times. I don't know what it means, but it's cool...

Also another weird little tidbit...my mom was born in 1930, I was born in 1960 and my daughter was born in 1990...exactly 30 years apart...3 females...we are divine Goddesses...LOL!

Heretic_for_Christ I don't suppose it matters to True Believers, but the term "antichrist" does NOT appear in Revelation. There are dozens of references to "the beast," but none to "The Antichrist." Only those who passionately rant on about the literal truth of the Bible have the wisdom to know that "the beast" of Revelation is actually some sort of non-literal euphemism for the "antichrist" mentioned in the short epistles of John. They are also able to reconcile the bizarre anatomic description of the "beast" in Revelation with Satan The Deceiver, which is good lest the rest of us be deceived into trusting a creature that looks like an extra in a cheap monster movie.

Okay, 666: divide by 3, symbolizing the trinity dividing and conquering evil; now with the quotient, 222, take the cube root, this time dividing and conquering again by a function of 3. The root is just over 6... which represents the double defeat of evil by the power of the trinity. COINCIDENCE??

Mind you, it's a comforting idea for believers, and I don't begrudge them their comforts.
But that whole triple six thing and the beast is just palpable nonsense from a book (The Book of Revelations) that specialises in nonsense.
