I'm adding this as a "tip" to this potentially useful thread...

As Colds become more common in the Winter season as well as pollutants in the atmosphere from smog or brush fires, a good way to combat these things is using a Neti Pot in the mornings.

A Neti Pot is a smallish tea pot looking divice where you add warm saline water and allow gravity to let the water drain through your right and left nostrils...

You will need to cock your head over a wash basin so water from the spout can flow gently through one nostril and out the other.

This is an excellent and inexpensive way to clean the sinuses and soothe the back of the throat. You can also gargle with the warm salt water.

With regular use the Neti Pot can reduce the needs for medications that have harmful side affects...like increasing your blood pressure for instance.

While there are many kinds of Neti Pots available, I recommend purchasing a steel pot for durability...as porcelin ones while beautiful break easily.
