Hello,
I really want to know about Khalistan. Since I was a child at those terrorists times.. I dont know, but now I am hearing aobut this Khalistan.
Some people support it and some dont.
I have the following questions in my mind.
1)Why do we need to make Khalistan, why cant stay joined with India?
2)Whats wrong with India? why did we demand Khalistan, what is the condition of Sikhs in India and Punjab.
I am not sure if I am either a pro-khalistani or an anti-khalistani. For the time being, I think I am none and I just want to concentrate on Waheguru. All I wish is for peace and Love either way and for everyone.
However, please shoot your opnions.

A short, incomplete history of Khalistan
When the British arrived southeast asia, they conquered dozens of feudal city/states and named the combined British dominated land India.
When Ghandi and the Sikhs made it economically and socially expensive for the British to continue to rule this land of India, The British and native leaders began negotiations on how to disband the British Raj and pass rule to the native peoples.
There were 3 large religious/ethnic communities concerned with recieving land and power. These were the Hindu, Islamic and Sikh communities.
"Tri-partite" negotiations were held for months/years with the largest question whether India should remain a single Nation or become 3 new nations: India, Pakhistan and Khalistan.
India for the Hindu, Pakhistan for the Islam, Khalistan for the Sikh.
After months of discussions in which Nehru and others decieved the Sikhs, and the Sikh leaders behaved with political naivete the partition of the British Raj was made into 2 nations: Pakhistan/Bangladesh and India.
Khalistan, the historical Sikh ruled Punjab, was split in half - leading to a sudden and largely unexpected mass disruption of many lives. The common Punjabis, by and large, had expected that Khalistan would be a multi-religious community as it used to be and had made no plans to move. The Pakhistani politicians began what would now be called "ethnic cleansing" with a slightly lesser agitation by the Hindu politicians.
Khalistan evaporated, the Punjab was divided and many Sikh and Islamic lives, lands, temples and houses were lost.
The Khalistan movement, with some support by Russia and expatriate Canadian Punjabis in the 60s and 70s, is largely an attempt to 'turn back the clock' and rewrite the 1948 partition to include a Sikh Punjabi homeland.
The idea of Khalistan pulls at the heart strings of all Sikhs because the Sikhs lost thier homeland and heritage to basically hostile governements. Most Sikhs accept the political reality that there will never be a Sikh nation created out of armed conflict, but there are always a few with a different and understandable desire to get back what was once ours and "should" be again.
If things had gone the Sikh way in 1948, Khalistan might well have been a model government for southeast asia. Considering the Sikh political ineptitude in 1948, Khalistan might also have been a total mess for the first few decades.
This brief history of Khalistan mentions very briefly some important and painful historical facts. My intent is not to trivialize but rather to give a general answer to the question "What is Khalistan?"

All this is also the gift of Vaheuguru. So are Sikhs in India allowed to follow their religion freely? Some Sikhs suggest that they must clean the Indian house others desire Khalistan and what is all this militancy activities in Punjab about, Sant Jarnail Singh and all?
