When I have had a long day or have been under stress for some time, I note that the skin on my forehead and around my eyes feels like someone has put a coating of glue or laquer on it. It feels tight and un-natural. I wonder if other board users notice this, and if so, have they a yoga technique to combat it.

In the course of a day our body can absorb a lot of tensions and unwholesome energies from the environment... this can cause the facial muscle to tighten in a defensive way and use valuable energy..so our expression will apperar woodena nd unresponsive to others we relate to and subliminally send messages to others that will cause them not to trust us or to be guarded and defensive.

Relaxing the facial muscles is a Yoga technique....

also messaging the forehead, temple, eyes gently with the fingers...Here are four techniques you can try:

First technique:

One relaxation exercise is let the head fall gently foreward with chin almost to collar bone but without any strain....

Let the head gently fall forward and tell your facial muscles to relax...So.

Second technique:

Another technique I use follows Shavasana or corpse pose relaxation... Lifting left knee and raising right arm beside your head gently role the body to the right so the upper arm is a pillow for your head...Let gravity pull your facial muscles toward the floor.. rest inthis position several moments and reverse on the left side (do the same thing in reverse) and allow the left side of the face to be pulled by gravity...

Third technique:

The last exercise involves using your fingers and placing them gently around your temple and eyes..gently messaging the face anbd regions around the eyes..with eyes closed. Tell yourself to relax....

Fourth technique:

Scientifically it's been demonstrated that a smile relaxes muscles and takes less energy... also it will cause a similar sympathetic reaction in others... Think of some amusing story you've heard and allow your mouth to relax forming the beginning of a smile..You will also note your eyes will feel relaxed and enlarged, rather than "narrowed".... a feeling of joy will be felt. This technique was used by the ancients and recorded in many representations of enlightened saints... You will not a half smile on meditating figures with the eyes half closed or closed altogether.
