my info is from the knights of columbus christian series;there are only 4 angels by name listed in the bible, micheal, who's name means 'who is like god'..gabriel, who's name means'power of god'..and raphael, the 4th angel listed is lucifer. who's name means'god has healed.the bible states all angels were created holy and pure, but god gave his angels a free will just like humans. over time some angels started praising themselves over god this is how satan and his angels tried to overthrow god and got cast into hell.there are 3 ranks of angelic beings. the first rank is seraphim, cherubim, and thrones.this rank is immediately before god. seraphim name means 'fire-makers, or carriers of warmth..cherubim name means fullness of knowlage, or out flowing of wisdom. the thrones contemplate gods divine judgement. the 2nd rank of angelic beings are the dominations, virtues, and powers. dominations who's name means authority direct and command the virtues.the virtues are responsible for the opperation of celestial bodies such as the stars and planents. the powers work to prevent evil beings from infiltrating and disrupting the good order od divine providence. the 3rd rank of angels are the principalities, archangels,and angels.the principalities are concernedwith the common good and general welfare of kingdoms, nations, andcities.the archangels are incharge of protecting a individual or multitude of individuals, and delivering solemn messages from god to man.last are the angels. there task is to protect individuals and deliver messages of lesser import...of all the spiritual beings discussed angels are most proximate to us.the word angel is the name of their function, not of their nature.if you seek the name of there nature it is "spirit". angels who devolped pride in themselves chose to reject god and this causes the term fallen angel, satan and his demonds chose this path.there are 2 types of spirits they are called benevolent and malemalevolent ...good and evil. i hope this helps educate any believer that has woundered about angels...god bless us all!

the name raphael means "god has healed" not lucifers,..and i misspelled malevolent , my 3 yr old daughter has been calling me to play barbie with her as i was writting this..isn,t my weakend mornings fun..lol!

You forgot to mention that Satan also has different ranks. There are also evil principalities and dominions to quote Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Satan ever since the fall has always tried to copy the holy things of God. May God bless you Saint Francis for
laying it out for everyone.An awesome verse to consider is Revelation 4:2-9 God sits high and exalted on a throne in which His train fills the temple.There is a rainbow around the throne and lightning and thunder and voices come from the throne.There is a sea of glass like crystal that stretches as far as you can see. About the throne there are beasts which have six wings and are full of eyes in front and back. They never rest, but continually fly around the throne crying out "Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.. " Saint Francis, do you recall if these beasts are angelic and what type of angels they
are classified as?? I have a study somewhere that talks about that, but I don't recall off-hand.

yes sherry i have your answer. isaiah had a vision of a SERAPH standing above gods throne who had 6 wings; with 2 he covered his head, and with 2 he covered his feet and with the other 2 he flew.and 1 called to the other and said; holy, holy, holy is the lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory'(Is 6:2,3).so these 6 winged angles have to be seraphims.i know satan has his god copied ranks also but i write them of as malevolent.
