	Wednesday, November 23, 2005 Happy Thanksgiving! Among many other blessings, I am thankful to live in a free country. And I am grateful that the ACLU wasn't on hand to try and stop John Winthrop (1588–1649), governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, from uttering these remarkable words: "For we must consider that we shall be as a City upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us. Soe that if we shall deal falsely with our God in this work we have undertaken, and so cause him to withdraw his present help from us, we shall be made a story and a byword throughout the world."
