If you always do the same workout at the same place and the same intensity it will inevitably become monotonous and less effective. One easy change is to add interval training-- short bursts of speed, followed by a longer period of recovery. You might also try a different version of your routine. If you walk, go for a hike or simply drive to a new location for your walk. If you go to the gym, exercise outside for a change. Another option is to try a different type of workout. Take a Zumba class, sign up for martial arts, enroll in an adult swim class or try a new sport or activity you've always had an interest in.
